Our journey as a family business from Pori began in the early 1980s when Sirpa and Kalevi Huhtala founded Kuljetusliike Kalevi Huhtala Ky in 1982. We literally have quite a few kilometers behind us! The excitement of youth started this journey, showing no signs of ending.
We started our operations with one truck, which was used to transport timber in the Satakunta region. Eight years later, in 1990, we bought a second truck and hired our first employee. A couple of years later, an interesting phone call took our story beyond the borders of Finland when we carried out our first transport between Italy and Finland. The load consisted of refrigerators and freezers heading to Pori.
In 1996, we moved from the remote forests of Lamppi to Pori, and a few years on, our new facilities were completed in Pori’s Pormestarinluoto. Our hall was equipped with the first washing station for heavy vehicles, where the wash water was recycled. Even back then environmental issues were important to us. By then, we already had a seven-person office team!
In 1999 we wanted to expand our operations into the internal logistics of sawmills. This led to the creation of Ysi-Trukit Oy. The name was originally supposed to be KaSi-Trukit, based on the names of the founders Kalevi and Sirpa and in Finnish meaning number eight, but someone had already snatched a similar name, and the name came back like a boomerang from the Trade Register. There was urgency in establishing the company, and the name could not hold us back, so Sirpa said, “Let it be Ysi-Trukit.”, ysi being the next number ie. number nine. We opened our first location in Merikarvia.
The millennium changed, we purchased the entire share capital of Kuljetusliike Vihtori Lehtonen. We gained Mikko Lehtonen to our team, 6 trucks, and his over 70 years of experience in the transport industry. The company’s name has been preserved because it is one of the oldest existing transport companies in Finland.
To this day, we have established ourselves as one of Finland’s most respected and trusted transport companies and logistics operators. We have undergone a generational change. Kalevi and Sirpa’s oldest daughter, Kati Huhtala is at the helm as CEO. However, the founders Kalevi and Sirpa are still shareholders and actively involved in operations.
Our entire group employs over 160 people, and we carry out transports to 11 countries. We transport millions of tons and cubic meters of products from the metal and forest industries. We believe that our success is based on stable and controlled growth, committed and skilled personnel, and reliable partners.
Our operations continue to be based on the same cornerstones as when we started – reliability, Finnish grit, entrepreneurship, and family.

We firmly believe that almost anything is possible when you have the courage to do things in a new way and the confidence to trust yourself. We want to be an innovative partner that leads rather than just follows. The journey must be persistently continued, even if it requires a bit of sisu.
Being an entrepreneur can sometimes feel like a crazy job, but we wouldn’t trade a single day away! Kalevi and Sirpa believed in their dreams and were ready to work for them. We continue on that path. Entrepreneurship also includes difficult moments, but we believe that in those moments, true entrepreneurial spirit emerges, help us overcome challenges. We never want to give up the desire to try!
Family is the most important thing, now and forever! Together we share joys and sorrows. As they say, pioneer’s daily life is not just dancing on roses, so often we need the support of others. Learning from mistakes is easier together. In addition to our core family, our company family includes many long-term employees who are our true trusted members.
